Kindred Launches Anti-Gambling Blocker Tool with Betfilter
The Kindred Group, which owns online casino brands Unibet, 32Red, and Roxy Palace, has collaborated with Betfilter to create a tool specifically designed to block gambling ads.
The social responsibility tool, titled AdBlocker, will be offered to any customer who wants to install it. Kindred hope the software will solve two problems at once. Firstly, by removing the exposure to online gambling advertisements that children under the age of 18 of susceptible to and secondly, to allow problem gamblers a way of removing temptation when online.
Children in the UK are spending increasing amounts of time using mobile devices, tablets and computers, and Maris Bonello, Integrity Analyst Manager at Kindred Group, says the company has always been clear that its products are only for adults.
I am happy that this new social responsibility tool is now ready and available to those who need it. We have always been very clear that our products are only to be used by adults over the age of 18, and therefore see this tool as an important addition to our responsible gambling toolbox. – Maris Bonello, Integrity Analyst Manager, Kindred Group
The tool was developed as part of a funding partnership with Betfilter. The anti-gambling software specialist has to date sold more than 100,000 downloads of the anti-gambling software.
Per Albertsen from Betfilter said: “The new AdBlocker, which is initially available for Windows users, blocks gambling ads, thus preventing vulnerable people from being tempted. We believe this ‘out of sight, out of mind’ method to be truly effective in promoting responsible gambling.”
The AdBlocker is a paid for service and costs either slightly more or slightly less depending on the length of contract, than $5 (£3.54) a month. However, the Betfilter license is offered for free to Kindred customers.
Kindred Group, which was previously Unibet Group, won the Social Responsible Operator award at the EGR Nordics for the second time In January this year.
Paddy Power also announced a new self-exclusion app for its online customers last month.
